T-SHIRT & BIB NUMBER PICKUP
Individual participants may pick up their T-shirt and bib number on the day before and on RACE morning at the registration tent in Walnut Hill Park:
- Friday, May 9, 2008
Starting at 6:45 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
- Saturday, May 10, 2008
Starting at 6:30 a.m.
TEAM PARTICIPANTS
Team participants should contact their team captain for the pickup of their 2008 CT RACE IN THE PARK items, but must pick up their CHIP at the park on RACE Day.
TIMING CHIP DETAILS
- The Female and Male 5K races utilize ChampionChip timing as the method for scoring for all runners.
- The Chip must be worn on your shoe from start to finish to be timed. No CHIP, no time!
- The Chip will be available for pickup only on RACE Day beginning at 6:30 a.m. in the CHIP Tent in the park.
- The Chip must be returned promptly at the finish line.
- There will be a $30 charge if CHIPS are not returned at the finish line.

COURSE INFORMATION
- Safety first…please help us ensure a safe event.
- USATF insurance restrictions require that strollers, baby joggers, roller and in-line skates, skateboards, bicycles or any other type of device with wheels, as well as dogs or other pets, be excluded from the competitive 5K events.
All events will begin at the same starting line under the balloon arch on the north side of Walnut Hill Park.

5K RUN COURSE
(The Female 5K is sponsored by Niantic Jazzercise Fitness). Runners begin at the start/finish line and proceed in a counter-clockwise direction to the Hart St. exit of the park. Turn left onto Hart St., go right on Vance St., left on Columbia St., go across Linwood St. and go right on Madison, right on Monroe, left on Linwood St., right on Shuttle Meadow, right on Corbin Ave., right on West End Ave., right on Lincoln St., left on Hart St., turn left into park and go right in a counter-clockwise direction to the start/finish line. 4K WALK COURSE
Same as the 5K run except: Do not turn left on Linwood. Instead, continue straight on Monroe and turn right up the Lincoln St. hill then right on Hart St.
1-MILE FUN WALK COURSE
The 1 Mile Fun Walk course begins and ends at the 2008 CT RACE IN THE PARK start/finish line on the north side of Walnut Hill Park under the balloon arch. Walkers will make one complete loop of the Park road in a counter-clockwise direction.
KIDS’ CHALLENGE… Everyone’s a Winner!
Sponsored by American Savings Bank Foundation. This is a fun challenge! Join this year's Honorary Chair Team Lin's Kids under the starting line balloon arch on RACE Day.
KIDS' 1 MILE RUN
Something new and challenging for children 14 years old and under. Meet at the starting line by 8:50am for a prompt 9:00am start.
KIDS' FUN RUN
Three age divisions for children 12 years old and under. Meet at the starting line at 9:00am for a prompt 9:05am start.
Line up by age divisions:
- First age group: 10-12
- Next age group: 6-9
- Last age group: 0-5 year olds
Please note - youngsters 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

PARTICIPANTS
Individuals: All ages from beginning walkers to experienced racers.
Teams: Anyone can form a team - businesses, schools, town employees, friends and families, sports clubs, churches and synagogues, neighbors, survivor support groups -- or any other group may enter as a team for speed, size or support.

0-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69,

*Plus special divisions for Teams and Breast Cancer Survivors.
KIDS’ CHALLENGE
1 Mile Run ages 14 and under
Fun Run ages 10-12, 6-9 and 0-5 (with adult)

The first 5,000 entrants will receive a 5th Anniversary T-shirt.
REFRESHMENTS
Complimentary food from Panera Bread, M&M Produce and Guida's Milk & Ice Cream is available for registered participants. You will need your 5th Anniversary Race Bib to gain entrance into the Refreshment Tent.
Additional food will be available for purchase.
BARONET PINK RIBBON COFFEE CAFE
(open 6:30am - noon)
Join us for a cup of Pink Ribbon Coffee - served all morning long. This blend was created by Baronet Coffee exclusively to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer and the CT Breast Health Initiative, Inc. In addition to a cup of coffee, you can purchase the Pink Ribbon blend in 1 lb. bags to take home.
HOME DEPOT'S BUILD IN THE PARK
Children will have an opportunity to build and take home a wooden project.

Stop by the Sponsor Tent and meet our sponsors and pick up promotional goodies. Please support them as they have supported us. Sponsor Tent opens 8:00am - You will need your 5th Anniversary Race Bib to gain entrance into the Sponsor Tent.
GENERAL INFORMATION CENTER
An Information and Lost & Found booth will be in the center of the park. 2008 CT RACE IN THE PARK personnel will be there to answer all of your questions.
BAGGAGE HOLD
- Participants may leave a bag at our baggage area.
- Please pick up your items as soon as possible after your event.
- All items must be picked up by 12:00 noon.
- The 2008 CT RACE IN THE PARK is not responsible for lost, stolen, or unclaimed baggage.
- Thanks to the Junior League of Greater New Britain for coordinating this tent.
REST ROOMS Rest rooms will be available at several locations. Handicap facilities are located in the park and at the Finish Line.
TIMING & RESULTS
CHIP timing used for the 5K runs will be provided. Preliminary results will be posted after each race at the Awards Tent located directly in back of the stage at the Start/Finish Line. RACE results will be posted on this website.
WATER STOPS
Water stations will be in the park, on the race course outside of the park, and just after the Finish Line.
FIRST AID
Medical aid will be provided on the course and at the Finish Line.
This is your last chance to purchase a brick and become one of the more than 5,000 expressions of friendship, love and inspiration in The Walk of Life in New Britain’s Walnut Hill Park. Orders will be taken until June 15, 2008 and the final bricks will be placed in October 2008.
Proceeds from The Walk of Life, sponsored by the Northeast Region Soroptimist International, benefit the CT Breast Health Initiative, Inc.

Ample parking for the RACE will be available at the following downtown New Britain garages:
Convenient shuttle buses, provided by DATTCO will make continuous trips between the RACE site and these parking areas. These facilities will be secured for RACE participants. Local participants should go directly to the parking facilities at the Chestnut street garage.
Directions to the Courthouse Garage
From locations North and East of New Britain: Take Rte 84 West to Exit 39A onto Rte 9 South. Continue to Exit 27 - Chestnut Street (left exit). Turn right off the exit and turn left onto Columbus Blvd. Follow signs to the courthouse Parking Garage.
Directions to the Chestnut Street Municipal Garage
From locations West of New Britain: Take Rte 84 East to Rte 72 East, to Exit 9 - Main Street. Turn right off the exit and right at the first light onto Chestnut Street. Continue to the Municipal Parking Garage.
Directions to Washington/Columbus Boulevard Parking Garage
From locations south of New Britain, take Rte 9 North to exit 26 (Downtown exit). At the end of the ramp, go straight ahead through four traffic lights and the garage is on the left.
From the Meriden Area
Take Rte 71 North and go left onto Rte 71A. At second light turn right (to Rte 9 South). Take the first right exit, New Britain/Kensington. Turn left at the top of the ramp and continue North on South Main Street to the 6th traffic light at Chestnut Street. Turn left and then right into the garage.

Entry fees are non-refundable and are not transferable. This event will occur rain or shine. We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. In that event, there will be no refunds. Your entry fee will be used as a donation to the CT Breast Health Initiative, Inc.
